South Asian Society It’s strengths and weaknesses

South Asian society consists of a number of countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives. South Asian society consists of a population that is greater than one fifth of the world’s population so the population of south Asian society consists of more than 1.3 billion people. The people of the South Asian society are followers of various religions including Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism

Christianity and Sikhism so we can find great religious diversity in the South Asian

region of the world. There are various strengths and weaknesses of the south Asian society few of which I will be discussing in this article. I think that a great strength of the South Asian society is that South Asian society is a society that is rich with reserves of natural resources as in Pakistan there are the huge reserves of Gold and Copper as according to a statement of Director General Provincial department of mineraleology 0.2 million tones of copper and 0.4 million ounce gold reserves will be produced by a project of gold and copper exploration in Rekodik area of Balochistan.This shows the natural resources reserves of Pakistan which is a part of the South Asian society. Another strength of the South Asian society is that this society consists of the two nuclear powers of this world.Those two nuclear powers are India and Pakistan respectively.I think that being a nuclear power is a strength for the South Asian countries of India and Pakistan because both these countries can use their Nuclear capabilities not only for defence purpose but also for generating electricity in order to fulfill their energy requirements.Nuclear power cannot only be used for defence and power generation but Nuclar power can also be used by the these two countries  for developing nuclear medicine which can be used for medical purposes such as diagnosing of diseases. I think that another strength of the South Asian society especially Pakistan is that Pakistan is  located on the area of the world that has political and strategic importance as the United states of America, the worlds super power is fighting a war in Afghanistan which is the neighboring country of Pakistan so Pakistan is strategically important for United States of America that requires the route of Pakistan for getting logistic support for the NATO forces fighting the battle in Afghanistan.

Now I will discuss some weaknesses of the South Asian society that has hindered the development of the South Asian society despite of these strengths. I think a great weakness of the South Asian society is the lack of unity between the South Asian countries especially India and Pakistan that are enemies of each other due to various reasons such as territorial disputes and water problems between the two countries.I think that this weakness has hindered the development of the South Asian society as a whole because I think that if these two countries get united and cooperate with each other on matters of Health, Education and economic issues than a South Asian union of countries can be formed that is similar to the European Union. I think that this South Asian Union

can play a great role in developing the South Asian society like European Union has played in developing Europe. I think that another weakness of the South Asian society is corruption which has led to the drainage of the economic resources of South Asia. I think that there is corruption in South Asia as the transparency international organization has declared Pakistan 34^th most corrupt country of the world. These were the weaknesses and strengthnesses of the South Asian Society. I think that the South Asian society should work on it’s strengths to improve them and overcome it’s weaknesses to develop the South Asian society.
