Egypt revolution 2011...

Egypt revolution 2011 – a battle for freedom, not Muslim Brotherhood
“We will not be silenced, whether you’re a Christian, whether you’re a Muslim, whether you’re an Atheist, you will demand your goddamn rights, and we will have our rights, one way or the other! We will never be silenced!”- Egyptian Freedomist
Attempts have been made in the mainstream media to attribute the recent revolution to Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, once a radical pan-Islamic Movement that has long been a fierce opponent of the Mubarak regime. However, this claim easily gets nullified when one joins together certain key pieces of information regarding the Muslim Brotherhood Islam in Egypt.
The Muslim Brotherhood has been officially banned in Egypt since the 1950s and has lost the might that it once had. After years of suppression, intimidation and torture, the Brotherhood has learned a lesson and now, while it seeks to change society, it does not pursue an explicitly political agenda. Rather their current approach is more comparable to the quieter salafist practice; seeking rigorous but non-political personal morality. The Muslim brotherhood now believes that ideal politics will be achieved once the society has had enough introduction of Muslim values into popular culture. The society will, then, simply reform itself – including the state.
A major sign of the Egypt Revolution’s not being a Muslim Brotherhood battle is that it is lead, arguably, by the Nobel Laureate and former head of International Atomic Energy Agency; Mohamed El-Baradei who returned from Vienna to declare that he was ready to lead the protest.
When surfing the internet for whatever information is coming from Egypt, or watching the live feeds from Al Jazeera, one can easily get the sense that almost everyone is participating in some way. Occasionally when the chants of “Allah Akbar” are heard from the protestors, they are soon drowned out by the much louder Chants of “Muslim, Christian, we are all Egyptian”
