Is Globalization a bad word?

Globalization is a term defined to notify the mixture of culture, background, ethnicities, civilizations and environments. For instance the flow of westernization in the South Asian Societies can be a part of Globalization. Today, the word globalization is mostly heard because we see trends changing a gigantic change can be noted in terms of westernization and industrialization.

Is Globalization a bad word? This question was posed in a talk show on NDTV, India and the response generated by the panel was positive. The panel comprised of highly educated society of India and thus the conclusion was made that there are more cons than pros when referring to globalization. Pakistan, for instance is the best example of Globalization where you see, media manipulation, industrialization and other articles that are part of the global phenomenon.

Globalization means elimination of war and countries are friendlier towards each other, but this is not always the case. Countries may fight over trade and policies and thus war is still existent. Industrialization is another example that may increase investments in your country but at the end of the day you’re the one at the losing side. The multi-nationals take the royalties home leaving your people with an addictive demand.

Stuart Clare, A CNN journalist stated that “the world is a global village and we are its global citizens”, strange but true. As the world is developing we are transforming into slaves to globalization. The super powers dominate the game and we are left with no option but to accept the realities as the truth. Another issue with globalization can be the mixture of cultures may result in losing your own identity and culture. We follow others but we forget what we are. This is quite prominent in the Pakistani society and more particular in the South Asian Societies.

Concluding the article I’d like to term globalization as a bad word, with more disadvantages. At the end with globalization you lose more than what you gain.
