Globalization is the integration between countries, societies, economies, goods, services and capital. Globalization brings with it advantages and disadvantages. Some of the advantages of Globalization can be seen in the increasing use of internet all over the world which has made the communication in any part of the world much easier than before. It has connected the world and the people in it, which has made them, come closer than before. For example someone in Africa can now easily talk to someone in Canada and video conferencing has all made communication much more easily than before. And also news and other information is being circulated at a very fast rate because of internet. So people are now much more aware of the world and what’s happening in it. Also Globalization has had substantial affects on the international economy, since it has enable countries to invest in one another and also provide other countries, especially the underdeveloped countries, with loan, through international forums such as the IMF, and also trade between countries has become much more faster than before. It has paved path for multinationals in many developing nations, which has increased employment opportunities in those countries and also increased the GDP of that host country increases. Globalization has made this world a more open and free place to be in. Globalization has made traveling much easier because of which food and medical supplies can now quickly reach those people who are in dire need of them. Countries come together to take part in various international competitions, such as cricket, Olympics, soccer, and such instances of people working together toward one goal which would eventually result in a new understanding of cultural values and customs. When countries accept each other’s cultural values, and not necessarily have to share them, they become less apt to go to war with one another. Also Globalization can result in intensive measures to be taken to enforce human rights all over the world.
But there are many disadvantages of Globalization as well. A major disadvantage of Globalization is that many cultures are losing their values. Because it seems like the cultures of those countries become more dominant which have more economic power, and these include most of the western countries. And this seems to be because such countries have enough capital to make things such as technological products, clothes and movies which can affect and influence the cultures of other countries. As the world is becoming increasingly globalized, many people are now becoming ignorant about their social, moral and ethical values which puts those small cultures at risk which are at a risk of becoming extinct. Globalization has also increased the competition between various countries, since there are now lesser limits between the trading countries. Now a country doesn’t only have to worry about being in competition with the national firms but also foreign enterprises. A firm needs to be in a much rigorous and challenging competitive atmosphere in order to stay in business and maintain a level of development. This can result in high levels of production costs. Usually underdeveloped countries make use of foreign capital to make further developments, but this usually results in inequality and instability, since the developed nations will become richer during this process making the already poor nations to become poorer. Also due to Globalization, many countries are now making use of technology which has made many workers redundant, since now machines can perform the same tasks in a more efficient way.
